2025

Venue

Hotel Pullman, Aerocity
New Delhi

Target Audience

Surgeons

Number of participants

25 - 30

Workshop Overview

This workshop is designed to provide hands-on training in both laparoscopic and open approaches to liver resection and hepatobiliary anastomosis. The workshop combines didactic lectures with practical, step-by-step demonstrations and hands-on training on simulation models & animal tissues. Participants will learn techniques for parenchymal transection, vascular control, bile duct identification, and reconstruction strategies for biliary-enteric and duct-to-duct anastomoses.

Learning Objectives

Understand segmental and surgical liver anatomy relevant to both open and laparoscopic liver resections.

Demonstrate techniques of safe parenchymal transection, including energy devices and vascular control strategies (e.g., Pringle maneuver).

Perform bile duct identification and dissection with attention to anatomical variants.

Execute hepatobiliary anastomoses, including: Duct-to-duct anastomosis, Hepaticojejunostomy (Roux-en-Y)

Manage intraoperative challenges such as bleeding, bile leaks, and difficult hilum.

Interpret imaging and intraoperative findings for planning resection and reconstruction.
