Workshop Structure:
Time | Session Details |
---|---|
09:00 hrs | Registration at the Venue |
09:15 AM – 09:30 AM | Operation of the surgical microscope |
09:30 AM – 09:45 AM | Micro-instruments & Micro-suture |
09:45 AM – 10:30 AM | Preconditioning for Microvascular Surgery |
10:30 AM – 11:00 AM | Tips & Tricks for performing micro anastomosis |
Hands-on Session – 12 Participants, 6 stations Note: Please bring your own surgical loupes to assist the operating surgeon on the microscope. |
|
Participants will rotate through 6 skill stations in pairs (2 per station), allowing focused, hands-on practice for 1 hour. Each station is designed to build microsurgical proficiency relevant to liver transplant procedures. | |
Duration | Skill Stations and Practice Activities |
11 AM - 12 PM 2 PM - 3 PM (Second Batch) |
Practice suturing using intact latex glove Participants will develop precision hand movements and needle control on a latex glove, simulating delicate tissue handling. This exercise helps reinforce fine motor coordination and basic suturing technique in a controlled setting. |
12 PM - 1 PM 3 PM - 4 PM (Second Batch) |
Practice suturing using Silicone micro vessels Simulated micro vessels made of silicone allow participants to practice vascular anastomosis and fine suturing under magnification. It mimics real-life vessel suturing challenges in liver transplant surgery. |
1 PM - 2 PM 4 PM - 5 PM (Second Batch) |
Practice suturing on chicken wing vein tissue model This realistic tissue model provides tactile feedback and simulates human vein texture, enhancing practical surgical skills. |
