Workshop Overview

To enhance the knowledge and competency of nursing professionals in the field of liver transplantation. The programme offers a comprehensive overview of the transplant journey—from patient identification, evaluation & preoperative preparation—while equipping them with the skills required to provide safe, compassionate, and specialised care in the postoperative period. Particular emphasis will be placed on the pivotal role in understanding the full spectrum of liver diseases, clinical protocols, and delivering holistic, patient-centric care.

Through a blend of expert-led lectures and interactive discussions, participants will gain valuable insights into both clinical and ethical dimensions of liver transplantation.

Learning objectives

  • Gain understanding of nursing responsibilities at each stage of liver transplantation process—from patient selection to post-transplant management.
  • Develop practical skills to anticipate, identify and respond effectively to common challenges and unexpected complications in patient care.
  • Acquire deeper insight into multidisciplinary coordination required among surgical, anaesthetic, critical care, and nursing teams to ensure seamless intraoperative and perioperative care.

  • Understand current best practices in immunosuppression management, infection control, and strategies for long-term patient follow-up.
