Workshop Overview

The Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Workshop is a hands-on, skills-based training program designed to equip critical care personnel with practical knowledge and technical proficiency in the use of bedside ultrasound in ICU. POCUS has become an essential tool for rapid diagnosis, procedural guidance and real-time patient assessment.

Learning Objectives

Cardiac Evaluation

Learn the use of focused cardiac views (parasternal long/short axis, apical four-chamber, subcostal), to evaluate ventricular function, . Improve decision-making, reduces diagnostic uncertainty and enhances patient safety in perioperative setting

Respiratory Evaluation

Master the use of lung ultrasound to diagnose pneumothorax, pleural effusion, interstitial syndrome and consolidation—essential for rapid respiratory assessment and monitoring in the ICU.

Hepatic Vascular Surveillance

Acquire skills in assessing hepatic vasculature patency, graft inflow & outflow using Doppler ultrasound - vital in liver transplant and critically ill liver patients.

Intracranial Tension (ICT) Evaluation in Acute Liver Failure (ALF)

Explore non-invasive ultrasound techniques, including optic nerve sheath diameter measurement, to evaluate elevated intracranial pressure in ALF patients.
